Reconstitution calculator

Concentration, volume and syringe units, or the amount in each nasal spray, from the numbers you enter. The same maths as the calculator in the Dose Easy app.

This calculator only does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. It does not suggest amounts and is not medical advice. Double-check every result.

How the maths works

Concentration = vial contents (mg) ÷ liquid added (mL). Shown in mcg or mg per mL, whichever unit you picked (1 mg = 1000 mcg).

Volume = the amount you entered ÷ concentration, in mL.

Syringe units = volume × 100. U-100 (1 mL), U-50 (0.5 mL) and U-30 (0.3 mL) insulin syringes all mark 100 units per mL; they differ in how much they hold, so the selector only warns you when the volume is more than the syringe holds.

Nasal spray

Amount per spray = concentration × the liquid in one spray (mL), as printed on the bottle or measured by you.

Sprays per vial = liquid added ÷ liquid per spray, rounded down to whole sprays. With an amount entered, sprays for this amount = that amount ÷ amount per spray.

This tool is arithmetic, not medical advice. It does not suggest amounts. Check every result yourself.

Calculator FAQ

On purpose. The calculator never suggests an amount; it only converts the numbers you provide.
Insulin syringes are marked so that 100 units equals 1 mL, so one unit is 0.01 mL. U-50 and U-30 syringes use the same marks but hold 0.5 mL and 0.3 mL.
It is usually printed on the spray bottle or its leaflet, often as mL per spray. You can also measure it yourself. The calculator never assumes a value.
Yes. Pick mcg or mg beside the amount field. Results follow the unit you picked.
In the Dose Easy app you can save a calculation to a vial in your inventory. This web version keeps nothing.
